Litigation is becoming more common in Australia, and despite their best intentions coaches can put themselves at risk of legal action. It is therefore wise for coaches to consider purchasing insurance to minimise the risk of personal loss through legal action. The National Coaching Accreditation Scheme no longer provides access to insurance as a benefit of accreditation, so coaches need to investigate and purchase insurance on their own. When purchasing insurance it is important that you compare policies carefully as they vary greatly in their cover and their price. The following insurance brokers can provide access to coach insurance. None of their policies have been examined by or are endorsed by the Australian Sports Commission.
National Coaching Accreditation Scheme Registration
National Coaching Accreditation Scheme accreditation is valid for a period of four years. During this time, coaches are expected to continue their education and remain active as coaches. Each sport has developed its own policy on how coaches must update their accreditation. This is called their Updating Policy and it outlines what coaches must do to renew their accreditation at the end of the four year period. As each sport has developed its own policy, you will need to contact your sporting organisation to find out what specifically you need to do to update your accreditation. Use the following link to find out the contact details for your sport.
You can update your own contact details on the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme database or check your registration status. Use the following link to enter your NCAS Locker and check or update your record. Publications and resources
